Pulseband is a concept healthcare wearable device that provides constant tracking of pulse and blood pressure and is marketed towards patients with heart and other health conditions (as well as those at risk of developing these conditions). My team at DESIGNATION Labs was tasked with creating a companion mobile app for the Pulseband, as well as a logo, branding, and a marketing site for the products.
Following Agile methodology, my team started by creating a research plan and developing a lean UX strategy in order to empathize with the concerns of those suffering from heart conditions and learn more about the wearable tech industry. We collected research on causes, symptoms, and treatments for heart and related medical conditions, completed a robust competitive analysis on wearable monitors and devices as well as their companion apps, and conducted interviews with potential users and SMEs in the health care industry. We then synthesized this data in order to create user personas, a product roadmap and app map, and task flows—and finally we began to wireframe the mobile app and the marketing web site.
In my role as UI/Visual designer, I created the logo and branding for the app, designed key screen templates, developed complex data visualizations for each of the key metrics tracked by the Pulseband (pulse, blood pressure, sleep, and activity), and designed the UI for the marketing web site.
